Happy Friday!!

My day has been rough so far with my toddler both cutting a tooth and sporting a diaper rash so I’m writing in spurts between the multiple readings of near-memorized board books and sippy cup refills. But naptime is near and so is the weekend!

This week found my mental health in much better shape as I was able to add some more working hours in with childcare and getting a large chunk of time to just power through things was SO good! Reagan is starting to laugh at her favorite parts of books (I Am a Bunny and Red Hat Blue Hat are big right now) and she now loves going to the green space to walk around in her squeaky shoes as the cats trail ahead and behind.

Other things making me happy this week:

TSA Precheck

The thought of traveling with carry-ons and a toddler sent terror through my heart so I looked up how to sign up for this and to my surprise, your registration lasts for 5 years and kids under 12 are included with the parent’s registration (I had thought it was only one year). You better believe I jumped on that! I have to go in this week for fingerprinting and ID checks but it’s supposed to be quick with an appointment. Not having to dismantle bags or take off shoes will make life so much easier!!

Any other tips for flying with mobile toddlers would be appreciated! I’m scanning blogs and downloading Encanto on the iPad.

Homemade Macaroni & Cheese

This is so much easier than one would think, makes a great pantry dinner, and is so easy to make gluten-free- just use the pasta and 1:1 baking flour mix.

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window

I’m only on episode 3, but this satire is spot on. It’s Girl on the Train crazy + The Flight Attendant drunk + all the tropes of the true-crime genre. For extra fun, you can listen to Kristen Bell on the latest episode of Armchair Expert!

Kristin Harmel WWII Fiction

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve discovered Kristin Harmel and her historical fiction (thank you Scribd for showing me “You gave this 4 stars. Here’s what to read next!” options) and I’ve since then read three of her books back to back. She writes about perspectives from a number of different sides of the war and mostly about the Jewish resistance, which I found fascinating and inspiring. Truly, if you need perspective on how small the pandemic measures are, do some reading. A mask is nothing compared to a concentration camp. Try Scribd for free!
