Trying to get to the book post up for February’s crochet granny squares before the middle of the next month!
February’s squares were a little tougher as I didn’t quite have the right colros but I also had just started a yarn “fast” to work on using my stash instead of shopping for more sooo we’re just going with it.
As a reminder, my rating system is from Elyse Meyers, giving either half or one point for Plot, Characters, Setting, Writing Style, Pacing, Themes, Originality, Emotional Impact, Overall Enjoyment, Ending.

Sociopath: Patric Gaine
Ranking: Plot: 1 / Characters: 1 / Setting: 1 / Writing Style: 1 / Pacing: .5 / Themes: 1 / Originality: 1 / Emotional Impact: .5 / Overall Enjoyment: 1 =8 total
Format: Audiobook
Thoughts: Another book I heard of on Armchair Expert, this one was a fascinating look into sociopathy.
Yellowface: R.F. Kuang
Ranking: Plot: .5 / Characters: .5 / Setting: 1 / Writing Style: 1 / Pacing: 1 / Themes: 1 / Originality: 1 / Emotional Impact: .5 / Overall Enjoyment: 1 / Ending: .5 =8 total
Format: Audiobook
Thoughts: An interesting look at how the lies we tell snowball and cause more harm than just telling the truth. I enjoyed the creativity of the premise and honestly kind of wish the book the main character stole was real!
(Also I wish I had found my bright yellow before finishing the square haha.)

Verity: Colleen Hoover
Ranking: Plot: .5 / Characters: .5 / Setting: .5 / Writing Style: .5 / Pacing: 1 / Themes: 1 / Originality: 1 / Emotional Impact: .5 / Overall Enjoyment: 1 =6.5
Format: Ebook
Thoughts: I don’t really enjoy Colleen Hoover. She’s mostly very predictable, the way that she makes up names for like 75% of her characters drives me crazy, and it’s just not for me. A few friends said that this was very different from her normal, and while the plot is definitely different and I thought about the ending for awhile because the truth of the ending is so variable, it’s still definitely by Hoover.
Just for the Summer: Abby Jimenez
Ranking: Plot: 1 / Characters: 1 / Setting: 1 / Writing Style: 1 / Pacing: 1 / Themes: 1 / Originality: 1 / Emotional Impact: .5 / Overall Enjoyment: 1 / Ending: .5 =8 total
Format: Audiobook
Thoughts: This is one that I saw a lot on other people’s book blankets in the FB group, and admittedly my judgy side was skeptical. I have some block in my mind that fluff isn’t really worth reading…and this book proved me wrong. Note to self: Some books are just for funsies and that’s fine. I enjoyed the mental break of this book and the fun that Jimenez infused into what are more serious circumstances and the way that she added humor was definitely enjoyable. (One notable paragraph involved baby racoons in shirts and getting kicked off of uber).
Also… I missed that this was the third book a series. I’ll have to go back and read the others!

Crochet As You Go Joining
I realized that if I waited until all the squares were done to join them I would never get this thing done, so off to Youtube I went. I found this one that essentially adds a border and that can be done as you go…so win-win! It’s starting to come together better than I had originally anticipated, and it’s making me excited to keep going. Hoping to get some pictures of it soon!
