A week before I was scheduled for induction with my first baby, I realized I didn’t have a hat for her that would be small enough. I had newborn things but my girl was measuring teeny tiny and I didn’t know if I had anything to fit her! In full nesting mode, I set to work designing a double brim, classic looking beanie.
A few days before the 37 week mark (after which my daughter would not be required to stay in the NICU), my doc told me I was already 3 cm dilated and I needed to take it easy to try to keep her in there! This was the perfect opportunity to finish her beanie while lying in bed and watching Netflix…and the morning after I finished her hat, I was admitted to the hospital. Reagan was born October 5 – at a perfect and tiny 5lb 3 oz. I hope you love this beanie design as much as I do! This pattern is the bulky version of the original worsted pattern, which can be found on Etsy.
